So it’s August and I feel as though 2018 has flown by in 42 seconds. I’ve done so much this year that January feels like yesterday. Maintaining the balance between establishing my career, building an empire, and having a social life is tiring! 2018 has brought both trials and tribulations for my family, and a few small personal successes for myself. Although I’m not yet a millionaire socialite I’ve had a few career triumphs this year that was quickly celebrated with a quirky happy dance. Sadly summer is coming to an end and now its August; a month of many transitions and I feel like haven’t done enough. I’ve focused so much on work and bills that I haven’t maintained a proper balance on what’s really important.
So in case, you noticed the changes on my site and my page then you’ve seen I have decided to up my blog game and expand my views on business and divulge into my lifestyle as a millennial attempting to build a career in corporate America. I have to maintain a healthy balance but at the end of the day, I can’t make excuses!

How I Maintain
1. Don't Neglect Me Time
Personally, I’m still in my growth phase so I’m not about wasting time, I’m dedicated to my growth, goals, and happiness. So in my spare moments, I like to focus on things that can make me money or teach me something. I’m currently reading Financial Fitness by Chris Brady and Orrin Woodward. I got it as a gift from my mom, This book looks at personal finance like a sport, teaching one how to play offense and defense when it comes to financial freedom.
I’m always gonna be that chick encouraging a friend to cash in on her dreams and start a business or read a book to learn something new, like buying stocks.
Everyone could use a good side hustle and set aside a little bit of time each day can be all the push you need to start seeing real change. Another way I take personal time is to do something that pleases me. When my nerves are bad I like to relax by focusing on the little things that please me, like spending a Saturday morning binge watching my favorite TV shows or treating myself to a nice dinner and my fave wine after work.
2. Find new ways to de-stress
One of the resolutions I made in January was “only mind the business that pays you”. I’m the type of person that spends too much time overthinking the details and not enough time enjoying the big picture. When I turned 26 I told myself that I was gonna finish 2018 by not sweating the small stuff. I can’t waste time worrying about
elements that are out of my control. When I get stressed I always have my go-to’s like going to the gym, retail therapy, or getting a message. But after a while I gotta switch it up and try something new. Lately, my current obsession has been
aromatherapy and essential oils. I’m in love with the Airome essential oil roll on’s and the Bath and Body works aromatherapy stress relief pillow mist and soothing body scrub. These products are amazing to help unwind and relax after a long day at work.
3. Shift priorities
So lately I’ve just been so busy with life that it was easy for me to let my priorities slip. At the beginning of the year, I made a list of goals that I wanted to achieve and somehow my blog is one of the things that slipped. But I’m re-focusing my goals for 2018. When I need to re-shift balance in my life I have to shift my priorities. I literally force myself to stop thinking about the big picture and focus on the baby steps that will get me to my goal.
